Original Art

Note cards from the California Collectors' Series are reproductions of paintings done in watercolor, oil or acrylic. Many of the originals have been purchased and, with the permission of the buyer, include the name of the collector on the back of the card. The artist retains all reproduction rights. SP Daylight – 36”x29” watercolor – Train buffs’ favorite, invoking memories of nostalgic rides from Los Angeles to San Francisco. $500.

Reichenbachbruke – 29”x25” watercolor. Busy bridge in the middle of Munich, Germany, with the water of the River Isar running below. SOLD, 2008.

E=Mc2 – 37"xx31" acrylic on canvas. Literal interpretation of Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity in riveting pastels. $2000.

Rhapsody in Blue – 30”x36” acrylic on canvas. A tribute to the syncopation and sweeping crescendo of George Gershwin's music. $500.

Black Brown and Beige – 25”x30” oil on canvas. Nude with astonishingly blue eyes, a tribute to the music of Duke Ellington. $700.

Black Rosie – 31”x41” oil on canvas. Black woman with red rose. Inspired by chain gang work song of the Old South. $1000.

Diggin’ My Potatoes – 37”x31” oil on canvas. Woman alone in the field. Inspired by chain gang work song of the Old South. $1000.

Color Round – 50”x38” oil on canvas. A palette of purples, blues and greens overlapped to achieve the look of translucence. $1000.

Afrigrams – 28"x28" wyomyssing flint glaze sheeting on aluminum matting. A series of three designs in red, black, green, yellow and white African colors created in the template of a Chinese tangram puzzle (see photo on biography page). The pieces are $300 each or a set of three for $750.

The Red, White, Blue and Green – 68”x30” acrylic on masonite. A high-stepping drum and bugle corps featured in the San Francisco Chronicle on Friday, Dec, 16, 1966. Returned to the artist through the owner’s Will after her death. SOLD, 2008.

We Shall Overcome – 58”x37” acrylic on canvas. A tribute to leaders in the fight for human rights, including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks and others. $2000.

Remembering Our Heroes

Frederick Douglass -- 25”x33” framed oval acrylic. African American abolitionist (1817-1895) whose powerful “Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass” vividly described the dehumanization of slavery. $500.

Booker T. Washington – 25”x33” framed oval acrylic. African American educator (1856-1915) founder of Tuskegee Institute emphasizing industrial training and means of self respect and economic independence $400.

Ralph Bunche – 25”x33” framed oval acrylic. First African American (1907-1971) to be a division head in the U.S. Department of State. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize as principal Secretary of the United Nations Palestine Commission in 1950. $400.

George Washington Carver -- 25”x33” framed oval acrylic. African American agriculturist (1864-1943) dedicated to soil improvement and crop diversification including soybeans, sweet potatoes and, of course, peanuts! $400.
